Accessibility statement for Park and Ride

This accessibility statement applies to www.parkandride.portsmouth.gov.uk

This website is run by Portsmouth City Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to: 

• change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings 
• zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen 
• navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software 
• listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand and aim to adhere to the national average reading age of 9.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

1. Starting from 175% zoom on desktop, the text in the top menu overlap. People may find it difficult to navigate and view content. This fails WCAG 2.2 SC 1.4.10 Reflow (Level AA).
2. When tabbing through a webpage, some interactive elements do not receive keyboard focus, for example, the two buttons “Saturday” and “Sunday and public holidays” on the PR1 page. People using keyboard only to navigate the site may not have access to them. This fails WCAG 2.2 SC 2.1.1 Keyboard (Level A).
3. Missing form label error is present for the contact us form. Screen readers may not announce the purpose of the input field, making it unclear what information is expected. This fails WCAG 2.2 SC 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (Level A).

We have identified the above issues on the sample pages during the most recent accessibility audit. We are working on a fix and aim to complete these by 31 October 2025.

This statement was prepared on 19 June 2025. It was last reviewed on 22 July 2025.

This website was last tested on 19 June 2025 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. This test was carried out by Portsmouth City Council’s in-house development team with in-depth knowledge of the accessibility standards and completed using assistive tools such as the WAVE Evaluation Tool and axeTools.

We tested a sample of pages, including the website’s most popular pages (informed by Google Analytics).
